The last couple of weeks have seen us settle into more of a routine as Van's funemployment ended when she started her role with a company right in downtown Toronto, and Matt continued his Atlanta-based project.
The girl's AFL team played in their preliminary final but unfortunately the other team were just too strong - on the plus side, the lady Blue's were able to keep the other team below 100 points which was a season record!
We also both took part in a half marathon as part of our training program towards the full. Given our training pace, and especially Matt's lack of training, we were both pretty stoked to finish sub-45 and Van achieved her goal of a negative split - wahoo!
Last weekend, after both of us were based out of town for the week, we chilled out the Friday night and had a relaxed day on the Saturday, except for going on a training run where Matt led the pace for the last couple of kilometres at 4:18 - Whaaaaat?! On Saturday night, we went to the Toronto Oktoberfest (mainly to get further use out of our costumes) - it was fun, but no where near the scale of the original Munchen Oktoberfest. Can't even compare them really. Still, was good to catch up with some buddies and have some beers. Matt even went up on stage for best-dressed - he didn't come away with the win but he at least got a Hofbrauhaus bottle opener and some ear warmers for his efforts!
On Sunday, we went to Yorkville for a coffee and then to Hemingways pub to watch the ABs in the RWC. We were stoked that Stacey and David introduced us to this Kiwi themed bar as we'll defs be hitting it up for some of the remaining matches and probably whenever we're in the area.
Matt went to the Atlanta Falcons NHL season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles while he was down there and thoroughly enjoyed it. He's also found an affinity for quail, and chicken + waffles.
This weekend we're celebrating Matt's birthday, going to one of the last regular season home games, and investing in new cellphones! (Plus going for a 32km run, sigh... taper time soon though!).
It's officially autumn now and the temperatures have eased back a bit but the weather is still nice at 18-20 degrees and clear skies. We'll be trying to make the most of the weather before it cools down significantly towards the end of October!
