This weekend we went on an Algonquin Adventure! We hired a rental car and drove up to Algonquin Provincial Park on Friday morning before getting our canoes and making our way to our campsite on Burnt Island Lake. It turned our that it was about 5 hours of canoeing for us and 4 portages so what was meant to be a relaxing afternoon turned out to be a bit of exercise. It was awesome tho! So remote and tranquil. After some initial steering issues we made it to our camp. We stayed there for two nights and had a great time. Highlights were our own camp and campfire, Matt having to hang up our food so that the bears won't be attracted to our camp, cooking our meals over the campfire and on Matt's fancy new stove and generally chilling out. We also heard something stomping around the first night which was a bit freaky, other load animal noises (which ended up being a bull frog!) and the tent flooded on Saturday when there were thunder storms, but that's all part of it. We got up early on Sunday morning to get back early and relax on Sunday night.
The next weekend we moved into a new airbnb place right on Regent Park which is east of Toronto downtown. Turns out it's not the safest neighbourhood so it feels like a bit of a step down from Liberty Village but it's only for a month. Next month we permanently move into a rental place downtown which will be nice to finally feel settled. The rest of the weekend we relaxed and Matt studied for his exam the following weekend which he passed! And Van passed her exam which made all the hard work in May worth it. Time for champagne!!
