Day 15 - Foggy! You can tell we are further north as we recognise weather we normally get back home.
Our trip to the local vet was intersting. The person there, I thought was the vet, couldn;t speak much English at all. And our french was not great either. The end result was me on the computer looking up the English Eurotunnel Pet Passport site and translating it in Google Translate. All very comical.
Eventually the vet arrived and the tablets were given to the dogs and passports stamped. So much effort for so little, but at least the dogs were seen to and we didn't have to bother when in Calais.
The rain came and went through the morning so we decided to make the best of it and headed out to see Charolles, a town about 10 minutes from the chateau.
It's quite a pretty town as towns go with some nice shops, a couple of restaurants and a lovely church in the centre which is in a rich yellow gold stone reminiscent of bath stone.
We stopped for lunch, nothing exciting as only the L'Oliver had a terrace with covering in case of rain. Unfortunately, at the next table the diner was an avid fan of smoking.
So we ate quickly and continued to wonder around. I saw some really nice amuse bouche cups with a petit pois design, which I purchased.
With the rain stopped for a while but still overcast we thought we would try the gardens at Chateau Dree.
These were quite nice with a section of parterre with roses and extensive grounds. But we didn't stay too long and headed back to the chateau. Dinner that evening was in a nearby restaurant. It was ok but nothing special and the place was rather stuck in the past with rather kitsch decoration.
