Day 5 - The rain finally cleared and we decided to head in the direction of sunshine, which meant Menerbes; Peter Mayles old stomping ground.
Menerbes is a lovely village with hilly streets, a few restaurants and shops. There are fantastic views across the valley, filled with fields of vines and the odd sunflower crop. It's a great village for the photographer but you would need to get there early to reduce the number of tourists walking into your photos. Lunch in Menerbes was cheap and good quality. We ate in La Galoubet just on the main street. There are other better places according to the guides but this had seating outside and was busy; our usual guide as to whether the food would be good or not.
We were going to head on to Oppede le Vieux next but the dogs were finding the renewed heat exhausting, so we headed back to the Gite. After a swim and then dinner we sat outside and enjoyed the cool temperatures, a glass or two of wine and some cheese from the markets. A lovely end to a lovely day sightseeing.
