Day 6 - Whilst the other half went for a run I cut some fruit for breakfast. After eating, we headed out to Gordes for its market. We had learnt from the guides that getting there early is key to getting a space as the market takes up the car park in the town centre. The market expands around the town centre area but you have to watch for cars as they still drive through as I soon learnt - they take no prisoners.
A mix of stalls many selling local produce, the marjet is well worth the visit. After dropping our purchases back at the Gite we headed off to Bonnieux.
An old hill town, Bonnieux has pretty cobbled streets over many levels leading to plenty of great photo opportunities.
The garden I had hoped to visit, Le Louve, was unfortunately closed during July & August, however I was pleased my poor French was understood. There's hope for me yet.
We headed to the very top of Bonnieux where an old church resides. It seems to be used for concerts now. From here though there are some fantastic views across the Petit Luberon valley.
For lunch we headed back down and found La Terrasses. They have tables on the roadside which offer you good food whilst you take in the fantastic views over the valley.
Back at the Gite it was siesta time; the heat can really take it out of you. This was followed with a short walk into the village Joucas. It is really pretty also with some great views and what looks like a nice little restaurant; La Bistrot Terasses. After a meal back in the Gite we headed back to the restaurant for a digestif and dessert but they said they were full. We'll have to make a reservation; maybe Friday.
