Welcomed into Karijini with a dingo sighting and spent the next 3 nights in this amazing park.
Spent all day Saturday exploring Dales gorge. Walked along the ridge before heading down to Fortescue Falls. All swam in fern pool before scrambling down the face of the falls and walking inside the gorge to circular pool. Liam and Izzy braved the colder water in this pool. The waterfalls are considerably warmer than the pools as they come from artesian springs. Finished with a climb straight up, out and back to camp.
Wanted to explore the Weano gorge but rain predicted and advised not safe for a 2WD. The old commodore might be able to get us in but she wouldn't cope with the river crossings coming out.
Explored the visitors centre instead, which has a great display on the history of the park. Inside bumped into another Doubleview family in the Pilbara for the school holidays. Spent the afternoon catching up on homework and entertained by a rather brash willy wagtail the kids named 'Collie'.
Rain bucketed down Sunday night and thought we would be swimming out. The red rock just sucks the water up and not a puddle visible the next morning.
All agree we love bush camping. A blessing considering that's what we will be doing for 3 weeks on the Gibb River road, hopefully minus the rain.
