Visited Tunnel Creek Cave which was made famous by Jandamara an aboriginal freedom fighter who had hidden there and was later shot by police at the entry.
Prepared with head torches and togs we entered the dark cave. Because this year the wet season was just that very wet the water level was sometimes up to Liam's neck and a little chilly.
Freshwater crocs are known to be found in the pools along with an olive python who lives on one of the ledges and lots of bats.
We could hear the bats but no other surprises yet. Vorney was a little scared so hopped up on Rob's shoulders.
A perfect hiding spot, fresh water running into the cave with fish to eat and a sandy river bank at the other end.
We spotted the red eyes of a croc under the waterfall as we headed out, our first sighting.
Drove onto Windjana National Park the remains of an ancient barrier reef which now makes up the Napier Ranges.
A beautiful gorge of sheer black cliffs erupting out of the sand and a beach inundated with freshwater crocodiles. By the end of the stroll along the river bank we had counted 26.
A peaceful place and we were all happy to just sit and watch these amazing creatures. Perfect end to our Gibb adventure.
