Have enjoyed a blissful week in the pearl of the Kimberley, Broome.
Watched the 'Harry' finale in the oldest outdoor movie house in Chinatown, the Sun Cinema. Canvas seats, planes landing almost on top of you and geckos running amuck on the big screen........added to a great night of entertainment!
Kids participated in the Broome sunset series surf carnival held on Cable Beach. As the numbers are small, clubs join together which makes it a very social affair! Caught up with the Scarboro crew again for dinner at the camp school.
Checked out the Courthouse markets,
scrumptious mango ice creams and great live music.
We were lucky enough to be in town when you can see the phenomenon known as the staircase to the moon. It is created by the reflection of the moon onto the mangrove mud flats when the tide is extremely low. We all thought it was very impressive, so it must be spectacular with a clear sky.
The highlight was the 120 million year old dinosaur footprint fossils. Once again you have to wait for a low tide. So we were up early one morning and down to Gantheaume Point. Unfortunately, we weren't having much luck and then Izzy found something which looked very much like the picture. Alas it wasn't as the real ones were spotted by an old chap who had brought along his trusty compass.
