Hannah and Liv's Travel Update
Today we decided to spend in Old Delhi, seeing as this was the only part of Delhi we were yet to explore! We took a rickshaw to the main road, Chandi Chowk, where we passed the outside walls of the red fort, which of course due to republic day was unfortunately closed. The market was brilliant, selling everything you can imagine, and towards the end was the world-famous spice market, where we stocked up on chai and special indian spices (in the parcel home!). We then took a rickshaw to the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, which was beautiful, and absolutely collossal, though unfortunately it was getting late at about 5 o'clock so there were loud calls for prayer time and we were no longer allowed in. Old Delhi had a lovely feel to it, but we also got the impression things haven't actually changed that much so nothing stood out as being much older or different/smaller streets etc to what it is like in most of the rest of Delhi. We would have liked to have spent more time however, wandering around but we have an excuse to come back to visit the Red Fort!
