While we weren't lucky enough last night to experience Berlin's 'redmeile' for ourselves, having eaten a late supper at a Vietnamese place and watching the last three quarters of the game at our hostel, we were on Friedrichstrasse (a main central street not far from the Brandenberg Gate) when the massive crowd from the Tiergarten dispersed. Wow. Everyone cheering, waving flags, cars honking, everyone happy.. Although some people were 'happier' than others. What was really cool was seeing everyone in team gear.. Jerseys, flags, face paint, hats, necklaces. And this was just for a quarterfinal! I'd love to be here when Germany takes the Eurocup, the atmosphere would be amazing!
PS. On another sports related note, we're a bit disappointed with the Oilers for not trading down to a lower pick in order to get a defenseman. Yakupov will be a fantastic player, but he's not what they need right now. But we'll be VERY disappointed if they finish last or second last next year.
