Busy, busy day in Berlin today. The weather finally got nice, and we took full advantage of it, gallivanting across Berlin with the help of a day pass for the transit system.
Started our day by taking an air raid shelter tour put on by a local company that clears out old underground sites and restores them to the historical conditions. Very good tour, and one could really imagine what it was like to be down there with bombs exploding above you.. Cramped, hot, dark, with very little good air. Quite the experience.
After, we wandered through Humboldtshain Park, where we enjoyed the sunshine and fresh air while looking for the remains of (yet another) Flakturm. This one is partially demolished, with one side backing into a hill created out of rubble from the Second World War.
