After the Berlin Wall, we went to the far west edge of the city to the Olympia Stadion. Berlin was awarded the '36 Olympic Games in 1931, and Hitler and the Nazi Party set out to use the Games as a propaganda tool to display Nazism to the world. The Stadium itself is an impressive structure, having been renovated in the early 2000's, and the surrounding athletic fields are very nice as well. We viewed the period sculptures, the original Olympic Torch (invented by the Nazis), the swimming pool, the Olympic Bell, and the Bell Tower (glockturm). Quite a walk, but very beautiful, with a lot of history.
