I know I've been horrrrrrible about updating. But our internet is out at the flat 95% of the time, so I'm pretty restricted.
Last Friday was a lot of fun. Four of us went up to Camden (just north of where I'm staying) to check out the bars there. It was cheesy pop night/80's night at this (underground) club called Underworld. Fantastic. It was hysterical because a large number of people there were dresses as if they thought they were coming to a heavy metal contest. And yet, there they were, up on the stage choreographing moves to Blondie and Wham!
Saturday my flatmate Kacie and I walked around Covent Garden and back up to Warren Street. By far the strangest weather I've seen in my life. It was freezing cold and overcast in the morning. Then it started to rain. Then the sun came out (with the sunglasses) but it was still raining. So I'm holding my umbrella, wearing my sunglasses, completely irritated that the two are occuring simultaneously. It proceeded to clear up, only to start up with really strong winds about a half of an hour later. And then it poured. Downpoured. All night. I'm pretty sure there was sleet.
It was still raining on Sunday, do I decided to forego Canterbury. I did go to 2 markets, one of which was a vintage clothes market. Found an excellent pair of £10 cream heels. The other market was completely indoors, and thus really busy thanks to the weather. I proceeded to spend the remainder of the day napping. And reading.
Had a fantastic night on Monday. Work has been a little less busy this week, but will probably pick up again on Tuesday. This week is one of 2 weeks that London has sales. The other is in January sometime. Considering I work along one of the major shopping strips in all of Europe, the temptation is unbearable. I've started walking the other direction to stay out of trouble.
Last night I took the bus home as usual. But I decided to sit on the right side of the upper deck as opposed to the usual left side. All of sudden, right near the Great Portland Street station, this man with an enormous camera runs directly in front of multiple buses (nearly getting hit by a BMW) and jumps up on the sidewalk, taking loads of pictures. Now, as this was occuring on the left side, I couldn't see who he was taking a picture of, but I know it was someone famous. Only paparazzi are stupid enough to do that. Probably Kate Moss. Or Keira Knightly. We had an internship program get together last night. Someone said they saw Tim Burton walking down the street and thought he was a homeless man at first. Go figure.
