Can I please get a collective "thank you" to the wi-fi gods of London for giving me back my internet. We had it all week (stealing from a nearby building, I think) and then all of a sudden it went down last night. The 5 of us sat around the akwardly rectangular kitchen table tonight, twiddling our thumbs and talking about mid 90's Nickelodeon shows. Someone check if the internet was back up every 15 minutes or so, until we all gave up. Glad I didn't go to bed yet. The thought of not checking my email every hour was enough for me to rush into the office this morning, disregarding everyone I passed until I found out for sure that I didn't miss anything last night. Like Julia Roberts giving birth or something monumental like that.
ANYWAYS I posted a few new pics (thanks to Em). I should have some more up tomorrow (so long as my internet stays up- please say a brief prayer tonight).
I did find shoes yesturday. Although I'm in the process of trying to exchange one pair for a different size. I was in such a panic that a size and a half too small seemed okay at the moment. Meanwhile I'm just going to have to carry the red Puma shopping bag to work with me until the shipment comes in and I can exchange them.
Emilee & Stephan left last night. I took a bus home from Piccadilly, this time sitting on the top level. I really like the bus system. It's efficient, fairly inexpensive, and it gives one a much better perspective of the city. On the tube (subway) I just end up sweating through my rain dreanched clothes, squished in like a sardine hoping that a large number of people will be getting off at the next stop so that I can breathe again. Apparently one of the largest cities in the world doesn't know how to air condition the subway. They are offering one million pounds to anyone who can come up with a plan.... just in case you have an idea.
Anyways the bus ride home was nice. It went through some great areas and by sitting on the top, I found it much more encompassing. One doesn't face the intimidation that you might encounter in the streets. The sidewalks are so busy and there is so much traffic that one can't really focus on anything aside from the man in magenta orange coming straight at you on a unicycle. But on the top of the bus, there is so much to see from an observers standpoint. I watched a man eating spaghetti at a place called Adams Rib (made me very reminiscent of Z-ville) and a woman tripping on nothing but her own feet on the sidewalk (made me feel better that I'm not the only one).
The weather this morning was miserable. Rainy and cold. And it was one of those days when I watched my bus (both to work and back home) pull away as I was walking up. But after lunch the sun came out again. Alice and I took our hour long lunch (okay, maybe an hour 15) and sat at Starbucks eating a shortbreak chocolate chip cookie and drinking lattes. The Virgin Radio station is across the street, which I hadn't really noticed before. A woman in black leggings, black stilleto boots and a bright pink tank top was standing outside the door with a walkie talkie. We were pretty sure that someone famous was on their way, but had to head back before we could find out.
I've got a lot of work to do this week, but the guy I'm working with is out of the office. So as soon as I finish his list, I've got somewhere near 200 movies to categorize as "rubbish" "maybe" or "excellent".
Someone told me today that they thought I sounded either Scottish or American. Although, he was French. So I'm not sure that actually counts.
