I woke up a half hour later today than I have been this week in an effort to get to work later. But I ended up ready at the same time.... slightly annoying.
Work went well yesturday, except that I was there 45 minutes before anyone else so I couldn't get in the office. I spent the first half of the day watching a few movies, sending out rejection emails and entering movies into the database that have yet to be screened. Basically people just send movies to the office with a submission form and they get rejected or accepted once watched. Some of them are completely awful. One was called "Teenage Bikini Vampire". But I guess that's to be expected considering the number that is received each week. And there are a lot of really good ones as well (those being the ones that are accepted). One came in that is (obviously) old and stars Jack Lemmon.
Alice and I had our typical lunch at the little garden square down the street from the office. Lunch includes a panini and a fruit smoothie. There are lots of little sandwich shops and delis a short walk from us, so it's nice to just run in and have a warm sandwich.
I spent the second half of the day entering contracts into the database. Carter, the CEO (or some other similar title) came into the office in the afternoon and gave Alice and I an assignment. We have to come up with a few events that involve team building and time outside of the office. Unfortunately, most have to be on weekends so I don't know how thrilled everyone is going to be about that. Shorts is also sponsoring a film festival in Paris one weekend, so he wants everyone to go to that. I think it's fantastic, but a lot of the people in the office are from France. Not sure that that's their idea of a good weekend away.
Stephan, Emilee, Stephan's friend Michael and I went to see "Stomp!" on the West End. We had 3rd row seats and the show was amazing, as is expected of London theatre. I just kept thinking how much their hands must have hurt from all that clapping. If you don't know the show, it is a little different. There is no dialogue. Basically there are 8 characters that create rhythm and melody out of everyday objects. These include kitchen sinks, trash cans, basketballs and brooms. We really enjoyed it- a show like that is so creative and refreshing in a sense.
We went to dinner afterwards at this fantastic Mexican place in Covent Garden. It was in this alley off of the main strip, but it was packed. I was hesitant of Mexican food in Europe, but it was excellent.
My feet are a little swollen and I'm not sure why. So today I'm off to work in tennis shoes like the rest of the office. Thank god it's friday. Still haven't done laundry or gone grocery shopping since Monday.....
