I really wish I had something more exciting to blog about, but this week has been fairly uneventful. My internet has been off and on, so everytime I really want to blog the signal is completely dead.
I almost died Tuesday morning. It involved a motorcyle, a city bus and a red crosswalk signal. But I won't go into the details because I've already lectured myself enough. And I now know that the crosswalk signals are more than a suggestion.
I forgot to mention that on Sunday we saw the Royal Air Force flying overhead while walking in Piccadilly. I guess they were out for the Queen's birthday on Saturday, so I'm not sure what the reason was on Sunday. But it was pretty cool.
Tuesday at work was crazy. Apparently there had been some disagreement over service charges added to the rent. A man from the court came and tried to kick us out of the building and take the computers. It didn't work, but needless to say we got to go home early. Everything's back to normal now. I basically just watched movies today. Finally saw that one with Jack Lemmon. It's called "Puppies for Sale". So sweet, heartbreaking. Definitely went in the positive pile.
The windows in our flat only push out about 6 inches. I had heard it was because of suicide attempts (as if jumping out of a 3rd story window is really the first thing a suicidal person thinks of....). HOWEVER my flatmates told me that they walked in the kitchen the other night (I, thank god, was not here) and there were 2 pigeons in our kitchen. One on top of the fridge and another on top of the cabinet. They went to grab their cameras, but I guess the pigeons flew out before they could get pictures. I kind of wondered about that because I had seen the birds sitting on the ledge. My window is now only open 3 inches. Hopefully no finches will come around. GROSS though. Talk about unsanitary.
I've been here 2 weeks and I really feel that I haven't done much in London. I come home most nights, just tired. I did a lot this past weekend, but I'm hoping this coming weekend will be good. The Taste of London and a free concert in Greenwich are on the agenda, but I'm hoping to take Sunday and get out of London. My weekends seem to be filling up already. Canterbury/ The Cotswolds sounds interesting. I'd like to see Salisbury Cathedral as well.
All of these plans are in hopes that I get rid of this cold. Too many germs in this city. Too many handles and doorknobs. Not all the Lysol and antibacterial lotion in the world could sanitize this city.
