Today went really well again. I figured out that it is a. faster b. easier and c. cheaper to take the bus to work. Plus I don't have to walk as far (still haven't gotten those flats... but I wore sandals today).
I did the epitome of intern work when I had to makeshift a carrying case for flyers out of a cardboard box. Necessary parts included a handle made of packaging tape. 100 % true.
But then I got to screen a few movies and finish up the mailings that I was working on. And the 2 trips to the "post" were nice because I got to get some fresh air. At one point, my boss told me to go "email my friends" to take up some time. No problem there.
Emilee & Stephan arrived today! We met in Westminster (see photo) and then walked up through Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly & Soho. We finally found a pub to get a pint and something to eat. It's hard to stay out much later than 11 during the week because the Tube shuts down for maintenence. So the only options left are walking, a cab, or a night bus.
Somehow I managed to piss off the people at Starbucks twice today. First because I wanted an iced tea (which to them is completely foreign- even though nearly all the other Starbucks in the city know what I'm talking about) and when I ordered another drink iced a few hours later. The Starbucks is almost directly across from the office, so which is convenient, but they hate me already. It could be a really long 8 weeks. The first time I broke down and just ordered a latte, but the second time I made them remake it. I'm pretty sure I got blacklisted after that.
The weather has been really nice, although it drizzled tonight.
Need to:
DO LAUNDRY
Buy shoes
Grocery shop at a real store, not the express store
Find a pillow and a towel. My pillow is approximately 10 years old and has no more fluffiness left to give. It's like sleeping on a bag of matted down cotton balls. And there's no top cover on the bed, only a rather interesting comforter. I'm just afraid that if I buy sheets, the cleaning people will steal them when they come to change the linens.
Please send cotton balls. And a feather pillow. And a hand towel.
