Happiness Is The Road
The music had thankfully stopped but the wind was still howling and heavy rain was still coming down when we awoke. We couldn't wait to get out of this place and left before having any brekky. We were a little worried that we might be stuck as the ground was very sodden but we got away with no problems. We drove to a car park at Gnarabup Beach just down the road and parked up here to eat brekky with a view before us of a raging ocean. Sheets of rain and ocean spray were being blown across the car park and the wind was gusting ferociously causing the camper van to rock and sway. After brekky we hit a very wet road dodging big puddles. We decided to head to Yallingup today. On the way we stopped off at Gracetown and watched the ocean from near the top of the cliffs. The swell was huge and some mightily magnificent waves were throwing themselves at the shore. From here we drove to Yallingup. Last time I was here the weather was absolutely gorgeous and it was like arriving in paradise. It was a very different scene today. Yallingup was windswept and overcast. We found the caravan park and checked in just after midday. There was nothing else to do but chill out in the camper van and cuddle. Yallingup is after all the Aboriginal word for place of love. The wind howled and the rain lashed down for the rest of the day.
