Happiness Is The Road
We left the Overlander Roadhouse as early as we could. We decided to have breakfast on the road somewhere. We drove for about an hour to a rest stop where we had our usual three course brekky. (Orange/Grapefruit then muesli/porridge followed by sourdough toast and sugar fee jam). The weather was bright and sunny and the horrors of the Overlander and Monkey Mia seemed a million miles away. Our destination today was the coastal town of Kalbarri from where we would be less than 600 kilometres from Perth. The town of Kalbarri is on the edge of the National Park bearing the same name. We would go to the National Park tomorrow as we were knackered today. Neither of us had slept that well last night. We got a spot at a caravan park on the foreshore and chilled for a while. Later on we went for a walk to get a better look at Kalbarri. It was a really lovely place at the mouth of the Murchison River. It had a nice vibe to it and to me felt similar to some of the towns on the coast in the South West of WA. Although the weather was nice and warm here it wasn't as hot as at Monkey Mia or Coral Bay. The temperature seems to be gradually dropping the further south and closer to Perth we get. We're only a few days away from Perth now and I'm getting very excited!
