Not much sleep lastnight as i sn nervous about trying to get everything for trekking today. Shops open at 10am here so I went straight to mall to suss shoes out and 6-7 different stores and get prices. Around 2pm I headed back for a quick lunch and hopefully to hear about a secondhand backpack I had inquired about. It was raining heavily but i had to get shopping so i rugged up and walked to Zona Franca. I went straight to Belsport the biggest and best camping store and stocker of the Chilean brand Doite. I brought everything I could: dry sac, thermal teashirt, sleeping mat, headlamp, cooking gas, cooking stove, hiking poles, hiking socks, gloves, rain pants, thermus, cup, mess kit and a few other bits and pieces. I returned to the house late and as the guys were home and very tired offered to cook them dinner. I then rushed to the shop to buy ingredients and came up with the idea to make my take on the famous Peruvian dish Lomo Saltado. It took quite a while to make and is basically a big fry up of sausage pieces, onion, carrot, potato and peas. We ate very late - at 11pm but early for the guys and then we got to hang out a bit which was nice and I got to practice my Spanish and learned a bit more about Chile and the both of them. I told Fernando how i learned to make the traditional Chilean dish Curanto in Chiloe and he said there Curanto here is even better and has promised to make it for me tomorrow.
