So today I really have to get my hiking gear sorted so after a little sleep-in I had to wait until about 11am to head to the mall to do some more shopping as its Saturday everything opens a little later here. The first stop was the mall again and I managed to find some half decent hiking shoes that will do the job if nothing else comes up. As for the rest of the gear I am still thoroughly confused and in need of some English speaking help. I did have a bit of a win though on the jacket I had purchased lastnight with the dodgy zip - I took to a repair lady and she managed to fix the zip well enough for the time being and the best thing it didn't cost a dime. As its freezing here I really was craving a warm lunch so I brought some chicken and cooked up a mini chicken roast for lunch. It was then time to head to the tax free shopping district again - a good 45 minute walk to the south side of the city. After deciding on a tent and a bag I got talking to a guy who had some very basic English and he told me I definitely needed a bigger and more heavy duty tent - so there I was back to square one and more confused again. I had found a sleeping bag yesterday that i wanted so i went to the store to pick it up only to find they had just sold the last one, after some pleading and getting the shop attendants to check out back they managed to find one with a small tear in bag case; not wanting to miss my chance i took it. Next stop I picked up some packet tuna - perfect for light hiking food on my trek aswell as some muesli bars. By 8pm I gave up the hunt for another day and walked back to my hosts house. Fernando was at home but was getting ready to go out to the disco, I decided to take it easy and instead stay in and do some more research.
