I was awake from about 5am onwards and enjoyed once again looking out at the beautiful landscape and the sun creeping over the horizon. It had been a rough night and both my neck and back were giving me hell. At around 9:30am the bus attendant brought around cheese sandwitches, chocolate biscuits and warm drinks - luckily I had packed my own breakfast but the warm tea was a welcome treat. More movies were put on and I spent most of the morning dozing in and out of sleep. When we came to the boarder crossing to return into Chile we were met by a bunch of other people trying to cross the boarder and the driver and attendant spent 3 hours try to get our clearance - during which time we were locked on the bus with no toilet and with 20 pissed off people. When we finally got out of bus and had our stuff scanned the officials were quite rude with everyone and you could tell it had been a long day for them also. By 4pm we were finally back in Chile and on our way to Punta Arenas. The drive to Punta Arenas was quite beautiful and the coastline and flat water provided a nice change of scenery and at 6pm we arrived - over 3 hours late to our destination. My first stop was at the tourist office where I got some info about Punta Arenas and places to visit in and around the city aswell as some info on how to get to my hosts place which was a little outside of the city centre. I managed to catch a bus and find Fernando's place quite easily, he wasn't home yet but there was another Couchsurfer by the name of Alex there so he let me in. I chatted with Alex who is from Russia for a while before the guys came home and we made our way down to the shops for some groceries and to look at some hiking gear. I found some reasonable priced stuff which was surprising but I can tell this Patagonian hiking trip is going to blow my budget as I will probably need to buy a bigger backpack, sleeping bag/mat, shoes, poles, jacket etc etc. for dinner I made a salad and the guys made oven baked salmon which was absolutely delicious. Fernando speaks a little English but his partner Mauricio speaks none which made conversation hard but it is good for me to be forced into learning and studying again. Everyone stayed up quite late and at 1am I called it a night.
