Another day in Punta Arenas and another day to try and find some hiking equipment.
Weather was really horrible in morning so I did some research and decided that the weather in the park may be the biggest issue and so I will need to make sure I am prepared. I had promised to cook for Fernando today as he didnt start work until late; i made a chicken stirfry and a garden salad that turned out really well and he seemed impressed.
I had placed a wanted add on a local classifieds site and a guy had contacted me about a tent. I had organized to meet him at a supermarket but through my bad Spanish and google translate we got mixed up. Long story short I walked miles to the shop waited in the cold for a hour and gave up - arriving back and to wifi we figured out we were both at different supermarkets. Not to be out off we tried again and by 10pm I was out at the right supermarket but no guy - luckily he had given me his address so I walked around and met him. The tent was perfect but I now had $4 less then he was asking after taking a number of taxis - anyways he wouldn't budge on price. After 30 minutes and trying to pay with my American dollars he finally gave in (typical Chileans don't budge on price). It was now 11pm and would you believe the sun was only just going down. I arrived back at the house and Mauricio was home so i offered to cook him dinner which was a basic tortilla and ratatouille but it took a whole and it was nearly 1am when we finally ate. So in the end it was 2:30am before I got to bed.
