Hi all,
So, as I mentioned in my last entry, the insurance company had to upgrade me to first class to fly to Sydney. As there were no flights direct from Bali to Sydney with first class, I had to fly to Singapore (fourth time this trip) and then to Sydney. To enable me to fly I had to have the DVT injection again in my stomach (ouch again) and they had to split the cast to allow for the pressure in the cabin expanding my leg. This was an experience in itself. It was like a scene from chain saw masscare, they had this round saw, that they promised would stop as soon as it touches something soft, like my skin. Yeah right, I could feel it cutting me but they assured me it wouldn't break the skin. So like a Japanese tourist I naturally got the camera out and started snapping away. They said I was the funniest patient they had had as I was always taking photo's - yeah maybe but it's all part of the trip! So after being jabbed in the stomach and almost sawed in two, I was ready for my first class flight.
I got to Denpasar (Bali) Airport where a porter carried my bags and I got wheel chaired straight through check in, customs, passport control and into the first class lounge. Wow, it was fab, it was basically a really posh restaurant where you could help yourself to 3 course meals, champagne, any alcohol you wanted, there was even a cocktail bar tender making anything you wanted. As I was classed as disabled they basically brought me 1 of everything and, as I hadn't eaten all day I tucked in. The flight arrived and I was wheeled on first to my huge seat with my own TV, choice of magazines, newspapers and my menu for dinner! Whilst I was choosing which 3 course meal to have they poured me a glass of Don Perignon. The menu consisted of meals designed by top chefs from all over the world. I made the obvious choice of Gordon Ramsey's menu, which had Turkey Salad to start, Salmon for main and Lemon cheesecake for dessert. It was lush. During the flight, as my glass of champagne was getting close to empty, an air stewardess appeared from nowhere and filled it up! I was in Heaven! We then arrived at Singapore Airport to be wheeled everywhere, foreign exchange, free internet, and then to the first class lounge again. This was like the first one but bigger and better. I decided to have a singapore sling as I was tired of Don Perignon (if that's possible). They tried to feed me up again with Indian food and Haagan Daaz but I just couldn't fit it in! The flight to Sydney was out of this world. I was in seat 2B, so basically the only person in front of me was the captain! My seat was a recliner that turned into a bed as they brought you a mattress and a quilt and as many pillows as you want. They gave me Givenchy slippers, eye mask and pyjamas and a BVgalri designer gift set with perfume, body lotions etc. I was then poured another glass of champagne. I decided to go for Cruger this time for a change, but decided that I was a Don Perignon girl so quickly had it changed! I had a TV in front of me and was handed a remote so that I cuuld watch any film or TV programme I wanted whenever I wanted. I fell in love on that flight ......with Jesse Metcalfe in John Tucker must die, pretty good chick flick. The flight suddenly couldn't get better when I found that they had the whole series of Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere. So with another glass of champagne and a tub of Hagaan Daaz I settled in! I couldn't really sleep so decided to order my breakfast so I was ready to arrive in Sydney. Think I left that flight about a stone heavier and after cramming all the freebies into my bag I was wheeled off the plane and out into the big bad world of Oz......Wonder what this will be like.
Lots of love julie x x x
