You may notice the pace and frequency of the blog slow quite considerably now which is a direct reflection of life in Goa, Chilled out...
We'd pre booked a hotel in Panaji in Goa so when we landed we jumped in a taxi and headed straight there. We'd got chatting to a spanish guy called Ullyses who wasn't sure where he was going to go so he shared our cab and came to Panaji too. There's not alot going on in Panaji but it's a good starting point for visiting Ponda; famous for its spice plantations and Old Goa which was the old capital before outbreaks of malaria forced them to relocate. We arrived quite late on the first night so had something to eat and planned what we'd do the next day.
As we'd been driven around everywhere for the past 2 weeks we decided to jump on a bus and head to a spice plantation in Ponda. We got a taxi from Ponda up to the Tropical Spice Farm, after we'd found a shoe shop for Heather as her flip flops had broken. The tour was really great and we learned loads about the different herbs and spices they grow there from pepper and cardamon to vanilla, coconuts and pineapple. Our guide also showed us the 7th hottest chilli in the world the Piri Piri and asked if I'd like to try it... In a word it was HOT it had my eyes watering and my face went bright red, it had to be done though.
On the way back from Ponda we stopped in Old Goafor a wander through the streets and even saw a scorpion in the park. It's not very big Old Goa and there seemed to be some sort of market being set up which we were too early for so we headed back to Panaji for some tea and a few cheeky Kingfishers...
