Jennifer's Trip
Hello!
How are you all? Just 2 weeks to go now! Can't believe it's so little. Although I admit there have been times when I would have happily gone home, I am glad I stuck it out and won't be as happy to leave as I once would have been.
I told the kids today that I was leaving, and I am pretty sure they didn't really understand what I was saying. Oh well!
Sometimes the kids are quite cute, like one day i wore my glasses instead of my lenses and this boy Bernard came up to me looking very concerned and said 'auntie jennifa, your eyes are failing you!' I had to reassure him that I wasn't going to go blind at any minute. Another girl keeps saying 'aunti jennifa, say what? I don't understand you!' The whole accent/barrier thing is quite frustrating at times. For example here 'u' sounds like 'a', so if a ghanaian says bus, it counds like bass - this makes spelling tests interesting! Although it has to be said that for 5 year olds they can spell and read quite well, although sometimes we do run out of reading books.
It is still hot hot hot here, although today it was quite humid. I have heard all about the 'sna', in Scotland, quite amusing! The kids here are obsessed with snowmen ever since I showed them a picture of snow in a book, during the first week I was here! Here the weather is either hot or wet, there's no variation, ever.
I don't think I have much more news, so I'll sign off and say see y'all soon! (although I will be updating this again a couple of times before I go home)
