Jennifer's Trip
Hello, here's entry number two for today. I thought I should tell you a bit more about the school.
It is called Mummys Darl and there are about 50 children who attend it, ranging fromm 2-5. It is very, very religious, the first 30minutes of each day is spent doing Bible study. It is quite strange to see l3 year olds who can't tell the difference between red and blue able to recite passages from the Bible.
They all have a school uniform, but they change out of it at the end of the day before they go home. Most of their clothes are second hand, and many comes wearing shoes that are falling appart, but these are the children who come from comparatively well off families, as around 50% of children do not go to school because their families can't afford it.
There are another 4 teachers at the school including the headteacher, and all the adults are known as auntie or uncle, except the headteacher who is Madam.
The people I am staying with own the school, and they're called Edward and Augustina (I can't spell their surname!). They're both really nice and able to answer any questions I might have! Augustina's sister, Yah, stays at the school as well and she does most of the cooking and cleaning, as well as attending secondary school.
I think that's all for now, but please keep me up to date on all your news! I may not have time to email everyone, so this is the best way to find out my news!
