This morning Cathy, Mel and I packed up our tents and drove the 4wd track into the Purnalulla National Park.
It was a very rocky, winding track with several water crossings, the 50km road took us 1.5hours.
We hiked around the magnificent, orange and black striped beehive domes then walked to Cathedral Gorge where we stopped in the hollow gorge for lunch.
A short walk took us out to a lookout overlooking the Bungle Bungles and the iron oxide rock which contribute to these amazing contrast in colors.
For the afternoon we hung out at our campsite drinking beers and chatting with Cathy sharing travel stories. Then went for an evening walk to watch the sunset against the cliffs (pictured). The colors are fantastic pastel greens, yellows and oranges and the landscape looked as though it was an oil painting!
Tonights dinner was a hearty meal of Indian Palak Paneer with carrots and rice, then old fashioned marshmallows roasted by the campfire.
Highlight today: Sunset on the cliffs.
