Due to the four hour time difference, Mel and I were up and about at 7.30.
Our first visit was to Zebedee Springs which is a stunning thermal spring, running over red chunky rocks and between palm trees. There were lots of small pockets where people had crammed themselves into a rock pool and lazing around. It was a totally new experience for both of us and bizarre how the water was a pleasant 24 degrees. Like having a bath!
After the springs we started on our journey of the Gibb River Road. Bumpy, rutted, rocky, corrugated, sandy, long, never ending and repetitive are some of the words to describe this section of the track.
However, we did stop for a stretch and found this amazing, hidden gorge along the way (pictured).
After 5hours of driving at 60km we managed to get 250km and pulled up near a river for the night.
Beer, fat sausages, a warm fire and toasty marshmallows with cocoa will sooth our rattly bodies tonight.
As night fell we saw our first wild Dingo near our camp, this promptly reminded us to pack away all our food!
Highlight today: Zebedee Springs.
