This is the first time we are in Grand Teton National Park. We made the one and 1/2 hour drive from Yellowstone to Grand Tetons., but not before another adventure.
We wanted to get there early so I woke Kati up to get ready at 8:30 since she wanted time for her hair to dry after the shower. She ended up finishing her shower cold since the water heater would try to turn on again and it would shut off. We ran out of propane. The monitor in the panel is saying we have 1/3 of a tank, but we were empty. I drove to the campground office to inquire about propane. It is available at the gas station that is next to the general store. There is also a Car/RV shop and parts store there. We unhooked everything from the RV side leaving everything on the site and drove the RV to fill up. Kati and Shila stayed back keeping eyes on our site while we were gone. We filled up and then drove back, hooked up again and go ready. Considering all we had to do I thought we made pretty good time being ready by 11, only an hour later than I had planned to leave. That is when Kati corrected me, I had woken her up at 7:30 not 8:30. The time in my tablet did not update when we crossed from CST to MST.
We arrived at GT and the view of the Tetons is outstanding. The landscape all around is of rolling hills and then you have these rock mountain peaks protruding in a line as if trying to reach the sky. You can see them from different angles as you drive to the park. We made many stops in overlooks, but the highlight of the visit was Hidden Falls. We drove to Jenny Lake Visitor Center and rode the ferry across the lake. We then hiked up to see the falls, it was a very nice short trail - One and quarter mile round trip with views of the roaring river/creek flowing from the falls up to the point where you see the falls.
We drove around trying to see moose. We found a nice viewing area and a lot of elk showed up, but no moose. It was getting late and we left Shila in the RV so we did not hand around long enough to see if anything else would show up.
