Today was the big day, our drive to the coveted site in Bahia Honda State Park - the only natural sand beach in the keys.
The drive to the keys is just spectacular -I never get tired of it. Driving almost over the water with nothing but blue skies and water on both sides of the road in most parts. After 106 miles we were settled in our site and even though is not ocean front, it's so close I can smell it and that is good enough.
We got the RV set up in our site. The sites here are water/electric only. No sewer due to the coral/sandy terrain. I went to check out the bath houses - since we will be showering there not to fill up our tanks. There was a board that listed activities for the week. There is a ranger walk in the morning at the beach and there is star gazing Thursday evening weather permitting. I plan not to miss it.
We drove east across the seven mile bridge to Marathon to find a place for dinner. After dinner it was time to relax...a full day/week awaits us.
