Good Sunday!
Yesterday was a very chill day. I was off so I went to town. I had arranged with a driver to pick me up at 11:30 and at 12:00 I rang another one because the first one didn't show and his phone was off. How convenient. Welcome to Africa!
So the other driver drove me to fix my computer and then we went to a market to buy fabric because I want to make my own dress. I met a girl called Stella who is really good at sowing once at the lodge and she told me she can make me a real African dress. The market was chaos. I was the only white person (which is normal) but even the driver told me "you are very very white this fabric not good for you" when I asked him about a fabric that I thought was really nice. Thanks for rubbing it in that I haven't tanned one bit. Oh well at least he was honest.
After having visited 5 stands I finally found 2 different fabrics and then we drove to Stellas house. Her house was in the middle of the ghetto. There were cows, goats and donkeys walking in the middle of the street and people were selling the most random things on the side of the street. The driver who is born and raised in Tanzania even told me to lock the door…I think that says it all. Anyways, we finally found her house and she took my measurements and I showed her the pictures that I had found online.
"You like big butt? I put extra fabric behind on dress". No I don't need a bigger butt thank you Stella.
They are so funny and they make these remarks totally out of concern for you and not to make you feel bad. They just want to you to be happy. Apparently my behind isn't big enough for Africa.
I have been become such a brat here with having a housekeeper. My housekeeper Happy has Malaria so she hasn't been here since Thursday and the sink looks disgusting. I had to slap myself this morning when I saw it. It's all taken care of now mother, you don't have to be worried. The kitchen looks presentable again.
Today I think I am going to try making the biscuits that they serve in the restaurant for breakfast. They are so delicious and yesterday Upendo gave me her recipe. Usually with the recipes from the restaurant I have to try it a few times before they taste like the restaurants because they don't really use measurements, they take a special coffee up or a special spoon that they have in the restaurant and that's their measurements.
I was planning on chilling in the sun today but its freaking cloudy so that's not happening.
Oh well I better jump in the shower now.
Have a great day!

Lars You should have gone for the African look for the dress. Would be great in Lausanne at school ;-)
