Arrived on the gold coast yesterday after leaving our dear friends Sharyn and neil at deception bay just north of Brisbane. It was great to catch up with them and reminisce about the old days of the holden owners car club and midnight shift at GMH. They were gracious hosts and we stayed with them the night talking into the wee hours. We are staying at the gold coast tourist park which has a swish new pools area with 'nibbles' cafe. We had visitors this morning, Shane, Megan, Molly and Alice so we went to the cafe for coffee because we only have 2 mugs! Yesterday we drove along the beach front very, very, busy, cars and pedestrians. Nothing looked familiar to me, it is 36 years since we were last here and the highways and overpasses etc are everywhere, they have spent a lot of money on infrastructure in the built up areas. We found it difficult to find a park where all the cafes were. When we finally found one at southport on the spit, we went for a walk to get an ice cream but the kiosk was on a jetty and you had to pay $2 to walk on the jetty and $4 to fish from it! consequently I refused so I missed out on the ice cream! We are going to Shane's rental tonight for dinner.
