Today we had a quick daylight look around Bowen because we arrived in the dark last night. The caravan park was lovely and situated next to the sea, we could hear the waves lapping during the night. The town was very picturesque and the golf course ran parallel to the shoreline which appealed to Dennis. It had several bays and walking tracks and 4caravan parks, and a couple of resorts plus holiday rentals, very much a holiday town without being too touristy like cairns or townsville. We had a yummy breakfast at airlie beach watching the yachts in the bay. It's an up market tourist town where everyone boards their yachts for touring the whitsundays and Dennis wanted to show me where he went. We passed the big mango somewhere today, I'm getting very confused with all the places weve passed through, i think it was just out of bowen. We also stopped to do our weekly shop at woolworths and then top up petrol in McKay a big coal mining town. Tonight we stopped travelling before it got dark and because we had light rain so we are at a highway park which is very run down. It's not pleasant camping in the rain but we managed to wash and dry 2 loads of washing and cook dinner without getting too wet. It's early to bed tonight just to keep dry and it has even cooled down, we might need the blanket! Happy birthday to two of our favourite people Judith and Rodney, hope you both had a good day. Tomorrow we are heading for rockhampton and beyond.
