Cooktown has a very nice feel about it with lots of interesting history, from captain Cook 's visit to repair the endeavour, after getting stuck on the great barrier reef in 1770, to the gold rush and the 20,000 Chinese migrants who came and went during that time. There are a lot of old relics in the museum from those times and since, and statues and commemorative plaques all over town. It feels like a holiday town with lots of boats moored in the river and fishing from the jetty. Dennis, Kathy and mick went fishing on a charter boat this morning and caught tuna and mackerel so we are having a seafood dinner tonight, plus the prawns we bought off the fisherman who drives his van around the caravan park. I went browsing in the shops and galleries and of course had a coffee with terry and Warrick overlooking the harbour. Half way through our coffees the fisher people came back with their catch. You can see mick and Dennis filleting the fish in the picture above.
