This is my view having my breakfast this morning. The noises surrounding me are from various birds and the irregular dripping of moisture collected by the trees overnight. There is a brown forest floor bird scratching about in the carpet of leaves on the forest floor. Last night we had a bandicoot visit us looking for food in our rubbish he was very cheeky and came right up to our feet. The drive down here yesterday was beautiful and challenging, very steep hills and a couple of creek crossings plus more roadworks it was recommended for 4wd vehicles. I can imagine it being terrible in the wet season. We went on a tree top walk through the rain forest which was beautiful and well organised and informative. The staff were great and asked me if we had polar bears in Adelaide, ha ha! They recommended this place to camp which we appreciated. Dennis has just returned from his walk in the forest where he came across 2 cassowaries, thank goodness they kept walking because they can be quite aggressive, he has footage on his phone. We drove on further through the rain forest and came across an ice cream place that had dozens of flavours most of them local tropical fruits, my flavour was black sapote and coconut which was very nice. After that we headed for daintree village where we took two boat trips to see crocodiles. Tonight we are in port Douglas, and it's like being back in suburbia with the traffic and it's a bit hard to take.
