It was a long drive from Monkey Mia to Coral Bay - 368 miles, taking us about 6 hours! We got up early and went to see the dolphins at one last time before we set off, and then drove straight up the coast, only stopping at Carnarvon for a lunch break. Coral Bay is a tiny place, not even a town just a collection of campsites and a few shops but they were right on the beach! We drove through the Tropic of Capricorn on our way up, and it was certainly a lot warmer than it had been in Shark Bay. The first afternoon we didn't do very much, just went for a walk on the beach and then got a takeaway pizza from the onsite restaurant, we're getting pretty bored of pasta and rice now. The next morning we got up early and went snorkelling at Paradise Beach - the reef is just metres from the shoreline and there were literally hundreds of fish! We saw loads of different types, both cold water and tropical fish - including wrasse and clown fish (Nemo!), and we saw some really big clams too, it was really good fun. In the afternoon we decided to walk along the beach to visit a reef shark nursery a bit further up the coast, it is a really sheltered bay where sharks come to have their babies, and they were swimming just a few metres away from us in the shallow water! Luckily they were only small sharks, but it was great to see them up close, they don't seem so scary now. We also saw some sting rays feeding at the waters edge too. The area is certainly a wildlife hotspot, as we saw loads of bats flying over the campsite in the evening as well.
