It was raining quite heavily today, so we decided to extend our stay in Denmark for one more night so we didn't have to pack up our tent in the rain. We spent the morning in the nice coffee shop in town with the free wifi waiting for the weather to clear, and then went back to the campsite for lunch. Luckily the afternoon wasn't quite as wet, so we drove towards Warpole to visit the Warpole Wilderness Area - this is a huge area of forest about the size of Luxembourg (apparently), and you can walk through the trees learning about the environment of the South West and also do the tree top walk. We decided to do both, so we started with the tree top walk. This is a 600m walkway that rises 40m up into the tree canopy so you get great views and a sense of how big the trees in this part of Australia really are. Joel loved it, and I really liked the views, but didn't like the way the walkway moved about, especially as we were so high up! I was pretty glad to get back on solid ground! It was really great seeing the forest from that view though, and th!ere was even some mist rising up which made it feel quite eery. Once we got back down to earth we walked through the Ancient Empire Walk, which was a similar walk at ground level showing you all the different plants in the forest - you could really see how big the trees were! We could stand inside some of the tree trunks, and some would have been big enough to fit a car under. A shame about the rain, but being in the forest felt like being in a completely different world.
