Another day of awesomness! If all of Ireland is like this I cannot wait to see more! Today we took a tour bus ride up this mountain/giant hill thing and got to see the Burren. I have never seen anything like it in my whole life. Actually, i have never seen anyplace as cool or as fascinating as Ireland in my whole life. The Burren is baseically all these pieces o limestone on the surface of the lad. It literally looks like the moon with grass growing inbetween it in places. During some parts of the drive (because the Burren isn't in one specific spot, it covers a huge amount of land) the limestone is in all one piece and in other parts it looks like its in segments. Another nest thing is that it isn't level either. You have to be really careful how you walk because in some spots one piece of limestone could be anywhere from 1 inch to 1 foot higher then the piece next to it. It's really crazy though to try and wrap your head around what you are seeing. It's also difficult to explain so I took lots of pictures :-)
As we continued to check out the Burren, we made a stop to look at a dolman. One of those stone things that you can never understand how they got there. I really can't even begin to guess how people were able to get that massive stone on top of two vertical massive stones. Then again, it's the same with the pyramids in Egypt. Who knows...
After the cool dolman, we continued driving through the Burren and stopped at Aillwee cave. We got to take a tour of the cave if we wanted to and I'm really glad that I did! They told us this neat story about how some farmers dog ran into the cave on day while chasing after something. The famer discoveredd the cave when he went to look for his dog but didn't tell anyone about what he had found for a long time. One day he met some explorers at a pub or something and told them about they cave and they eneded up exploring it. The really cool thing about it is that they discovered bear remains in it. This is cool because Ireland doesn't have bears and until the cave was explored and the remains discovered, it was thought they never had. I thought that was really cool! The guide on the cave tour also told us that the inside of the cave stays the same temperature year round which is most likely how the bears survuved when they were there. We also got to see this neat waterfall, some huge stagalatites which only grow 1cm every 100 or 1000 years or something like that. The cave was one of those things that I think my brother and sisters would have liked to see and explore.
After Aillwee cave we travled down the opposite side of the Burren that we drove up and I got a ton more great pictures and a cool movie for everyone to check out. The pictures are on here and my Facebook , but the movie is only on Facebook. If you need to friend me just write me a message on here and I'll find you because my account is set to Private.
Our next stop was the Cliffs of Moher which I was really excited to see. I wasn't disappointed either, because it was absolutely breathtaking! We walked around both sides of the cliffs and got to see an old castle which was cool too. I don't even think that there are words to describe what it was like, but I took lots and LOTS of pictures to share. Again these are on both sites and there are even two movies on Facebook too. Now though, it is time for bed because I have classes tomorrow. Until next time...
