So I had my meeting with Aine McNamara yesterday, and she seems to think I should have no problem getting into the gym class I need even though I accidently missed the meeting. See, now thats what happens when they throw all that information at us at once, but at least I was not the only one. After that I decided that since it was actually a nice day (no rain and over 60 degrees) I would go for a walk down this path that follows the Shannon River. There are four or more different paths that wind all over campus and away, but this one seemed like a good one to start with. I can't wait to venture out onto some of the others though. This one was just so amazing that I don't even have the words to describe it. It was just the most peaceful and serene thing I have ever done. Okay, so I said I went for a walk, but on second thought I may need to restate that. What I should have said is that I went for a three hour pilgrimage. that is probably more accurate! All in all though I had a great time walking (and I didn't feel too too tired until today) and it was just nice to have some peaceful alone time. Anyone reading this should make sure to check out my photo album called "Off the Beaten Path." Just a note though: for some reason Off Exploring was not cooperating last night and it duplicated some of my pictures and some may be missing. If you like, feel free to check out my Facebook page, the album has the same title there. Other than that though yesterday was very calm and quiet, just the way I like it. I got to talk to my Mom and the kids again, I always enjoy that. It makes me feel like I'm still part of the family even though I am far away. I've been lucky so far, I haven't really been homesick. I guess that 110 days (101 now) doesn;t seem that long to me and there are classes, homework, and other activities to keep me busy. I've already spent 10 days here and it has gone by quick (although at first it was moving slowly). Oh, I almost forgot, I signed up for the International Society yesterday nite as well. Its this club that works with the International students (and some Irish students as well) and they plan trips and activities for all of us to do, either for free or usually for a really discounted price. They are planning a trip tp Galway one of these weekends coming up and that should be fun so I want to do that. Speaking of trips, I believe I mentioned in an earlier blog that I signed up for two trips. One was a Dublin pack, full of vouchers to use, and the other was to go on a Dolphin Watch, go to a monastory and the third one I couldn't remember. Well Jill remembered and its to the Flying Boat Museum. All three of thos things in one day/trip for only 10 euro, so Jill and I signed up for that (and the Dublin pack which was only another 10 euro). So we are excited about those. The three-in-one trip is on October 3rd and the other is whenever we want, but the packs come in at the end of the month. So yea, that about sums up yesterday.
Today was veeerrry quiet, but I liked that. I got to sleep in, and then I had class at 1pm. It was linguistics, and it seems like it may be a tough class but I don't doubt that I will do fine in it. I can handle anything thats thrown at me...unless its spiders, lol. I was suppossed to have American Lit. after/during Linguistics but we didn't make it, because after the teacher finished doing all of her intro. stuff that class had already started and we still had to talk to our linguistics teacher about us switching in and out each week. She was perfectly okay with it, and she seems confident that our American Lit. teacher won't have a problem with it either. We're going to e-mail him tomorrow and explain the situation and see if he is okay with the whole thing. We see him twice a week, so if the teacher that we see once a week is okay with it, I would hope he would be, but we'll see tomorrow.
Other than that, I had a nice quiet day. It was really nice day today and I was thinking about going for a walk, but in the end I knew that would over doing it. Especially since Jill and I took a lovely stroll ALL OVER campus trying to find this stupid building where the linguistics class was, that no other person seemed to have ever heard off. We got to see a lot of campus though :) After class we came back to the apartment and just relaxing and read some of our books. Haha, heres a funny story. We wanted to have pizza tonight for dinner, and we had bought frozen pizza last week at the store. Well, we don't have a microwave, and they don't fit in the toaster, and you can't cook them on the stove so obviously you have to use the ovan. So I knew we had to hit the switch on the wall to turn the electricity on (we have to do that for the stove, they are big on conservation here). So we did that, and I knew it had to be ste at 200 degress celsius, so I turned the k*** all the way to the right to the 200 mark, the k*** to the left of that was def. the timer, and then there was another k*** to the left of that that we had no clue how to use. So we're looking at it, hypothesizing what it may or may not do, and just baseically laughing hysterically at ourselves at the fact that we can't figure out how to use stove. Finally I turn around to Liam (one of our roomies) and before I even start to ask him for help he is laughing and getting up out of the chair he was in and he showed us the mark we needed it at. Apparently they have these ovans that do everything (how I do not know) but they have like eight different setting besides just normal ovan-which is the one we wanted. It was quite comical to watch though. We did get our pizza cooked though and it was very tasty I might add. And after eating pizza, I came on here and told you all about it. So thats baseically it for today. I don't have any classes tomorrow, so I'll prolly just hang out and maybe go into town and try to find baking stuff so I can bake Jill a cake for her birthday on Sunday. Until next time...
