Okay, so two days ago I totally wrote a blog entry about my first days of classes, and just as I finished it Off Exploring froze and I lost my entry. Figures doesn't it? So, lets see...
Monday was my first day of classes, if you could call it that. We only have to go to lectures for the first week (and in some classes for the first two) so I only had American Literature. It seems like a decent class, although it only lastes about 20mins and the teacher only read the syllabus over. I've read about half of the material on the reading list at some point in time, so that makes me feel better about the course. Of course I'll re-read everything since its been a few years since I've looked at it, lol. Other than that though, Jill and I just hung out at the dorm.
Yesterday was day number two of classes and I had Planning and Classroom Management and also Irish Folklore. Planning & Management is a HUGE class for lecture (we split into groups of about 10-12 for Tutorials) and there are three teachers, but it seems like it should be an okay class. I also decided to take Irish Folklore with Jill, it won't count for anything back home but it seems like an interesting class, and I have the time for it so I figured why not! Hopefully the room for that class will be moved becuase about 14 people had to sit on the stairs because there were no more seats and they are doing construction in the building where it is held so you have to shout to be heard, which the teacher did not like. Oh, and it smells horrible and is extremely cramped so fingers crossed! After classes I stopped by the International Office with Jill and we signed up for two field trips. One to a bunch of different places (a dolphin watch, monatsory, and somewhere else) and the other is a pack of vouchers to use in Dublin whenever we wish. They only cost 10 Euro each, which is much cheaper then what we would pay to do them on our own so we figured we should take advantage of it.
Not sure if I mentioned this in my last blog, but all of our roomies have arrived. They all seem very quiet and we all sort of keep to ourselves, but I would rather have quiet roomates then loud and rude ones! I'm sure we will all get along fine :)
Today I had a meeting with Aine McNamara who is in charge of a lot of the Gym courses here. I was suppossed to go to a meeting on Monday about signing up for my gym course, but I though it was Tuesday. Luckily she made time for me to come in today and she gave me the paperwork I need so I should have no problem getting into the course. I have to drop the forms back off to her either today or tomorrow. In a little bit I may try to meander into town with Jill to try and find the Post Office so I can mail some Postcards to family and whatnot. I'm going to try and take some pictures of the campus today as well, if I can, since it is currantly over 60 F here (heat wave!!) and not raining (yet). I'll post my pics and update this later. Until next time...
