The first thing we did today (after breakfast) was to drive to OUR house and sign the contract!!! Now, we're officially "housed"! After handing over a big big amount of money to Merlese, OUR Real Estate-Lady, I made a floor plan. Let's sum up the facts of OUR house:
- 3 bedrooms (one master with ensuite bathroom and two smaller ones)
- 2 1/2 bathrooms
- 1 home office
- 1 big, big, big kitchen with dining and living area (alltogether ca. 48qm)
- 1 TV room
- Big entrance hall
- Laundry room
- Nice patio with stairs to the rooftop
- Integrated carport
- Big terrace on the backside
- Little terrace at the entrance
- Big, big, big garden, a lime tree included

After signing the contract we felt sooooooooo happy, we now have our house!!! Even just rented, but ours. For a year. At least. Haha.
Making floor plans and spending money makes hungry, so we left the house, looking for something to eat. What we found few kilometers later was Cutters of Barbados, a yellow house on the main road, owned by a (white) Bajan who specializes in Cutters, which means Sandwich in Barbados. We entered and immediately felt like we were at Christians Delikatessen in St. Johann (btw. greetings to Christian!!!! We miss your Prosciutto!!!!). We ordered two slices of Pizza Margherita for Melina, a Flying Fish Cutter for Bernd and a Turkey Cutter for me. And folks, it was soooooooooooo delicious!!!! Even not cheap, but could eat there every day. The owner Roger spent few years in California and came back to open this Deli which is really recommendable. With two iced Cafe Lattes in our hands, we left and drove to Fontabelle to have a look at few cars.
Once arrived there, we found ourselves in the Muslim quarter of the outskirts of Bridgetown. They even have a mosque. And the guy who was selling the cars (we found the ad in the Nation News) was a Muslim too. He showed us a 1996 Fiat Punto (which had no A/C) and a 1999 Kia Avella. Both cars were very cheap, but both quite junky...Anyways, for our first Bajan car it would be ok, but not the Punto, because driving around Barbados without A/C is like sitting in the Steam Sauna. So - no chance for the Italian Stallion *gggg*
If I would ship over my Alfa Romeo I would be the king here *haha*. And not to speak about Bernds Audi S6................zzzzzz. But a car here without getting spare parts is not funny I think.......:(
When we left the Muslim guy, he refused to shake my hand (..."please don't be offended, but this is dictated by my religion"). Of course I was not, because this guy wasn't really that delicious...haha.
After visiting Dacosta Mannings (furniture & household materials) and Workbench (designer furniture *wowbutveryexpensiveandwayoutofourbudget*) we took the Spring Garden Highway to drive home through pouring rain. We almost were washed away by the water, that was on the roads because of the heavy rain. But hey, don`t worry, as we know, no hurricane on its way to Barbados. And just to inform you, no major hit by a hurricane within the last 50 years!!!!! *knockingonwood*
Coming home we switched on my notebook, and contacted my father to tell him all the news here in Barbados. Unfortunately my mother is in Tenerife at the moment, together (or not?) with my brother Daniel and his girlfriend Karin. Greetings to Tenerife from here (not thaaaaaaaat far away!), enjoy your holidays!!!
This evening I cooked a delicious (this is what Bernd and Melina said) red pepper chicken with curry rice, the first self-cooked meal for days..........since we are so busy all the time, we just stick on KFC and Cheffette very often. Too often, honestly. I already gained weight..........:(
Now we are enjoying the cooler nightly breeze with an Rum'n Coke (or two), and looking forward to another day in paradise. Yeah, it is paradise, a very hot, but also very attractive and beautiful paradise. And it came true for us, thanks God!
