My day started with working, and when I was driving home, I was so hungry and decided to drive down to Dover Beach to grab a delicious Maccharoni Pie, but unfortunately it began to rain heavily...the roads were completely under water, about 30 cm high, thanks god we have a Jeep ;) Raining in Barbados really is completely different because when it is raining, then it is pouring down, you can´t believe. And within 30 mins, the roads are like small rivers.
So I didn´t make it to Dover Beach, instead I turned round and drove back home, where the best husband from here to Maui made spaghetti, no, linguini with tomato sauce. Melina said it was very very good, so I was looking forward to come home, but it was heavy traffic, again....and me again stucking in it. Hm. This is quite a problem here, but like I already said, it could be fun. Could be. When you don´t have an appointment to reach ;)
Ok, I arrived home at the same minute my bajan friend Kay arrived, to teach Melina in English, which lasts about 1,5 hours and ended with Kay, having a headache (but not from Melina).
We promised Melina to go to the Cinema after her English lesson, so we tried to reach the show at 6.15 pm. Of course, as usual, we didn´t come in time, and also, I didn´t find a parking space, so I wanted to take another road which should lead to the parking garage of the Sheraton Center (where the cinema is). BUT it was the wrong road, and I was afraid not to reach the start of the show..........looking for a possibility to turn round we found the entrance of the Drive-in cinema, and hey, this was a way better option as the inhouse cinema!!! We bought the tickets for us three (BD$ 30,- = EUR 12,-) and parked in the perfect position. Bernd and Melina went to buy popcorn and drinks (2 big popcorn, 2 M&Ms, 2 big Sprite for BD$ 15,- = EUR 5,50). Quite cheap for Austrian standards, and the best of all, you could watch 2 movies for this price! But only the first one was for kids: "Daddy Day Camp" with Cuba Gooding Jr., very funny, and to hear the movie sound out of the car radio was really strange for us, I never have been to a drive-in cinema! Imagine: sitting in your car, smelling the ocean breeze, and watching a movie in English, this is so cool!! We all enjoyed it.
After leaving the drive-in we wanted to have a snack, so I suggested to go down to St. Lawrence Gap and buy something cheap at one of the many food vendors aside the road, where so many bars and restaurants are located. St. Lawrence Gap is the nightlife spot in Barbados.
We bought Maccharoni Pie for Melina (whatelse...), Chicken sausage for Bernd and a Marlin Fish Cutter for me. All was delicious and quite cheap (BD$ 18,- = EUR 6,50).
Tomorrow I will work again, BUT since tomorrow is Friday, which means, Fish Fry at Oistins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, Bernd will (should) look for cars, because we will have to give back our rental car in 2 weeks..............so, good luck!!!!
