This day began like any other since we are here: getting up early and enjoying a nice breakfast. Weather is great with hot temperatures and sky almost without clouds. Melina and I had some english lessons together, she was pretty good!!!
Afterwards we planned to go shopping because Bernd only brought sneakers and elegant shoes, so he definately need some flip-flops (the first ones in his life). We drove to Lazy Days, my favourite surf clothes shop in Barbados, and the only one I ever visited ;) Well, Bernd loved this shop, he couldn´t stop trying and trying new flip-flops and boardshorts....After about an hour and a half we left with 2 boardshorts and 2 pairs of flip-flops for Bernd and one flip-flops for me (thanks honey!!!!). Visa is greeting ;)
During we drove to the office of my future boss Cliff, Bernd tested his English by calling one Real Estate company, asking if a property which was available before I left Austria, is still available. It was, so we made an appointment for tomorrow to have a look at a nice apartment in a house directly on the beach! I am so curious about this apartment, the pictures look really great, so let´s see................the price is OK too......
The visit at Cliffs office was much fun because there was a "strong" guy (Andy) and Melina couldn´t hold back to ask him if he is the husband of Lynn, who is the very friendly and nice office lady of Cliff. Andy almost exploded when hearing this and we all laughed until we couldn´t breathe anymore.....Cliff also made a contact with a lady from Cable & Wireless for Bernd and called another guy who owns a telecommunications company. But when Cliff gave his cellphone over to Bernd, he was not completely sure what´s going on, he thought this guy wanted to sell us a car (we spoke about used cars before). So Bernd started with asking about what type of cars the guy on the phone could offer us..oh my god, Cliff and I we almost fell down on the floor because of laughing, this situation was so funny............I gave Bernd a sign that this guy hasn´t to do anything with cars but could be his future boss. I almost could see how Bernds face was getting purepure red haha!! But like Bernd is - he found a very elegant solution for this fauxpas, and the guy on the phone was very amused, no problem at all, and the call ended positive.
We left Cliffs office with hurting stomachs and decided to have a look at the carseller Andy was recommending us. We found it almost immediately (after only few u-turns) and wow - there was a Suzuki Vitara in a quite good condition for BD$ 15.000,-. We called the owner and made an appointment for tomorrow afternoon. Let´s see.............
Ok..........the rest of the day was great. We drove around aimlessly and ended up in Bathsheba, my favourite region of Barbados. It is on the East Coast of Barbados, which is less touristy, and quite remote of everything. But very beautiful, and the people there are just cool.
First, we wondered why there were so many cars and dressed-up people. As passing by, we saw that there was a funeral, coming to its end. This was the reason why my favourite rumshop was almost overcrowded. But this just meant more fun, because they all were in the right mood to talk...We learned to know almost everyone and when a white-skinned lady with red hair entered the bar, I said to Bernd: "I know her". Actually, the lady's name was Loreto and we already had contact through the internet. Such a crazy incident! We had so much fun, but when I claimed that the guy sitting next to the reverend is Owen Arthur (the Prime Minister of Barbados!), it was time to go home...
I brought us home securely and now - as always after typing this - it's time to go to bed!
