The day started with the very annoying appointment with one of the most unfriendly and ugly persons I learned to know here in Barbados: sorry to say this, but it is a shame that the Republic of Austria has a Honorary Consul in Barbados that really shouldn´t have this job. The "lady" should help me to get some documents from the (real) Austrian Embassy of Barbados, which is in Caracas, Venezuela. I needed them urgently to get my work permit stamped finally. This "lady" was not only unfriendly, she was treating me like I was an idiot, and the worst of all, she doesn´t even speak German!!!!!! Shame to the Austrian Government to let such a "Schrapnölln" do this job for Austria. Ok, just a question, what is the job of a Honorary Consul? Maybe you can help me....oh, yes, this person is in a foreign country to help Austrian Citizens if they have any problems or whatever! Right, this "lady" treated my like a piece of s***, stealing her the time. So you can see, I am very angry and I will keep this in mind when writing to the Austrian Embassy. Ok, let´s stop here, otherwise I will start again to get angry..............................*z$§6J9==*
After this refreshing experience with a non-Austrian Consul - ok, I know, I should stop it here.............we drove to Bridgetown to buy some business trousers for Bernd, for his interviews next week. Bridgetown is a bustling and stressful city, so we left after buying shoes for Melina, to change clothes at home and make a sightseeing tour to St. Lucy, the northern part of Barbados.
St. Lucy is a very even and rough piece of land, with only a cement factory and some nice cliffs and caves. Ok there is more to explore, but generally St. Lucy isn´t the region where tourists go. But it has its charme, and I think Bernd liked it ;) He is used to the Donau-Ries Crater, so he was like a little boy, jumping around a underground cave, yelling "I can hear the ocean, I can hear the ocean..!!!!" *ggggg* I just love this guy.
Because we had an appointment this evening, we rushed home to change clothes again: we had to go to Four Square Rum Factory in St. Philip, where we should meet my friend Cliff (of Facebook.com) to join their worship. Some of you maybe will now raise your eyebrows: "Bernd and Belinda in the church?????". Yes. Äh, no. It is not a church, it is a meeting of fellas who are praying to good together, and yes, we did sing together and we really enjoyed it. It is a nice and friendly community, and we felt very comfortable and welcome there. Melina can make friends and join their youth worships, so she will learn English better and meet kids in her age. We will go there again next Saturday ;)
After this new and positive experience we took the coast road to drive home and picked up some Lays barbecue chips and Guava jam from Jordans Supermarket (which is open on Saturday until 9.30 pm!). Now we are writing this blog and are simply happy to be in Barbados. Bernd is enjoying it more and more every day, and Melina was fine from the first day on. Not mentioning me, I felt at home from the first day on and can´t even think of the return flight on 4th of December...................but hey, there is so much time left until then, so I just can tell you, we are happy happy happy to be here! The only downside is that our family and friends are that far away...Even if we are now making new friends, we are still thinking of you ;)
