So I only have like 10 minutes before I have to leave for school but I dont know when I am going to get to the computer next. We might be going to Cotopaxi this weekend. It is a very large volcano here in Ecuador. The top is the only part in Ecuador with snow...not that I wanna see that crap. But anyway I am at the IES center because I went with Juan Carlos this morning to get my Yellow Fever vacine... cuz dr. Ragucci is kind of a dope and clearly I didnt get it yet. So we went it was really weird. I went in and the guy asked me my name and age and what part of the city I lived in then I went behind the curtain and the guy jabbed me with the needle and i was done. I didnt even get a bandaid! It wasnt bleeding but still ahhaha.
So on Wednesday I had my first day of my volunteer service. Omg I love it. The kids are soooooooooooooo cute. Basically there is like nothing there besides a few puzzles and crayons, and two foosball tables, and a kitchen. Its a non profit org so they really dont have much to offer the kids besides just a safe place away from the streets. We do give each of them a vitamin when they arrive, then help them with their homework, then they can play. I totally have favorites. This one little girl Maria who I call Shaelyn because I swear she is the spanish version of my cousin. She is 7 and looks just like her but darker of course. And she just like sat and worked on a puzzle until she finished it and was sooo into it that she seemed to notice nothing else around her. Then Kevin and his sister Shamaira were wicked cute. Kevin was 6 and Shamaira 3. At first it was just the three of them and another volunteer was helping Maria out with her homework so I was helping Kevin come up with sentences...ok he is 6 and already writing in cursive... I didnt learn cursive till I was in third grade. When Kevin finished I went to go help Shamaira. She is only in preschool so she only had to connect dots to make a straight line so I just watched her. She was so cute. At first she was kinda like why are stearing at me but then when we went to go play with the puzzles she was sitting on my lap. When her mom came to pick her up she gave me a hug. Omg shes like my bbest friend. We were playing with blocks and the boys were all making ice cream so she decided to make some for me... every flavor I wanted.
So basically the parents of these kids are the people I see in the streets selling little caramelos and stuff. If it wasnt for this place the kids would be out there too. There deff are still kids in the streets though but we are trying to help erradicate that. If thats the word I dunno.. haha... but yea they are adorable and I cant wait to go back on Monday.
Well I gotta go catch the bus... I have a test today in translation eww
