On saturday I went to La Mitad del Mundo. That is the equator. Like exactly half the world. Well I went to the mitad del mundo according to the Europeans. The real one is a few miles over because tthe Europeans were a little confused back in the day. Its in a town ccalled Calací or something like that. It was cool though. Very nice temperture, warm with a nice breeze. On the line an egg is able to stand up on a nail... thats cool. Then we went to this volcano called Puluahua... someways down the mountain is a little group of people who live there. They grow all their own food and have no luxuries. We met a man named Miguel who had a farm there but he didnt live there. It was really cool to see the people climing the mountain to go into town. It reminded me of that part in the Motorcycle Diaries when the guys are walking up the mountains in Peru. Speaking of the Motorcycle Diaries.... we also met a group of really funny Colombian motorcyclers who were there to visit the volcano. It was really a site to see. It was very very very foggy and you couldnt see a single thing ahead of you but once the fog cleared the whole pueblito down below was visible. so cool.
We are probably going to return on march 21 because its the equinox...on that day you have no shadow.
