Hey everyone,
It is even quieter at DG now. We have had a couple of visitors recently including a PhD student and her supervisor from a university in Kent and a french guy Fabrice, who studies tapiers in south America, but now it is just the three of us from Cardiff, Frenchie and Valou who is staying here for 3 months studying proboscis monkeys.
We had a really nice evening the other night for Danica's last night. She has gone back to Canada for Christmas so we all had a bbq together outside which was so good.
In other news, I am no longer following Krik. I mentioned earlier that I hadn't seen him for a while and after following really strange signals which seemed to move in the day and not at night I eventually found his collar, still closed, on the river bank about 600 m from his normal range! I think he may have been eaten by a snake or a bird and Anto said he could smell dead mammal, but have faith people he could still be out there! So now I am contnuing to do the last remaining habitat analysis and carrying out surveys in the night to see if we can catch another one. We did think we saw one the other night, but turned out it was a macaque....
So plans for the next three weeks before Christmas break is writing a report for Ben on what I've found so far with Ben, habitat analysis for me and helping the other girls with theirs. At the beginning of December Frenchie and Budin are playing in a big football and volleyball tournament, the wildlife department vs NGOs and we're going to go for a day and see the opening ceremony which should be fun.
Will keep you updated!
