Hello!
Not much going on here. It's a lot quieter here now as most of the guests left today!
BBC are still here fliming, have decided to extend their time as the elephants are still close by. Yesterday when they went out, they were filming from a 'beach' along the river with the elephants up above them on a bank, thinking that they wouldn't come down.... one of the females did. They all had to run back to the boat. Benoit was knocked over by one (named Ford as she once destroyed someones car...guess the make) and cut his leg, Alastair the cameraman (turns out hes not the really famous Alastair, but is an award winning cameraman who has worked on programmes like Life and with David Attenborough, so basically the same person) while running back lost his balance and had to throw this huge expensive camera on to the boat, luckily someone was there to catch it!
Later that day, Ben found a pygmy tree squirrel (photo of one on the tree) in his bathroom with its baby. The mum was dying though so we tried to take care of the baby as it was too young to go back outside, sadly though they both died and ended up in a tube of ethanol! Lovely. Not sure why the mum died, Benoit thinks maybe a spider bite?
Also have discussed what projects we will be doing. At the moment I'm carrying on with the slow loris until his battery dies in his collar and starting a new tarsier one. Will however mean that I will be nocturnal when I start as they are only active at night!
So as I said, not much going on. Can't really go out in the forest as elephants may start moving back this way, but we are going to go out tomorrow morning on the boat to watch them film which should be good! Have uploaded most of my photos so enjoy! Maybe you'll get an idea of where I live!
