Mary I can totally reatle. I've been interning in NYC for the summer and the experience has made me appreciate and love Boston even more. Boston fits my personality, we mesh. However, the PR industry is stationed in NYC all the opportunities are here, so it's something I have to unfortunately get over. I have to suck it up. But from what I've observed, many people use NYC as a stepping stone and eventually move out. To live here forever is not for the faint-hearted.

re: Jasper, AlbertaIshrat Wishing you luck with this. Waikiki needs a non-commercial blog. I regret haivng had to discontinue The Waikiki Wanderer for health reasons. Hope you do well. Don't be afraid to speak out. Complacency is Waikiki's greatest enemy.
re: Waikiki (2nd time), HawaiiSayuik Megan, you took the words right out of my mouth on so many points. I too was blaffed by some of the comments from other bloggers at the conference. Lewis, please know that not all travel bloggers are of the same mindset, even if some of us are more vocal than others. That we are such an un-homogenous group makes your job harder, but I think you've taken a big step in the right direction with this call to action. Don't worry about pleasing all the bloggers; worry about building meaningful working relationships with those whose goals match up well with those of you and your clients. I'm enjoying the conversation.

re: Maui, HawaiiJavier Bit late on the weigh in, but doesnt sefislh swing both ways? Surely them expecting you to stay in one place for them would be sefislh on their part too? (Not that theyre asking you to but you know )I had a chat with my mum earlier tonight as i was contemplating going traveling and asked her what she did after uni (she's a nurse). She finished training and went straight into work. That was 31years ago. She loves her job but would also like to win the lottery and go see the world.(I didnt waste my breathe explaining that she doesnt need to win the lottery lol). She's has a great family/life/house etc but watching them leave for work at 8am and come home shattered at 6pm only to eat, watch the news, go to bed and do it all over again makes me realise how much I dont want that life. There are enough office workers and people with mortgages out there and just like jobs/chasing money/raising a family makes most people happy, traveling it what makes you happy. Goodbyes are always gonna be hard and they miss you like im sure you miss them but people who love/know you always know when something brings you joy and thats what makes coping easier. Distance really does make the heart grow fonder. Thats what makes reunions that much more memorable, and the time you do spend together invaluable.Enjoy the travels and making memories. The guilt always take care of itself.x
